Media experts, journalists, and online activists discussed the prevalence of online gender-based violence and harassment in a workshop held on Thursday, January 17, 2019, as part of the 2019 Palestine Digital Activists Forum.
The workshop, led by facilitator and trainer Sobhi Khatib, focused on digital security and privacy and the role of Palestinian media organizations in countering online violence, and discussed the ethics of modern technologies, such as virtual or augmented reality and artificial intelligence.
Nahed Abu Taimeh, the gender coordinator in the Research and Policy Unit at the Media Development Center, said the interactive workshop helped provide space for healthy discussions on cyber violence, harassment, and intimidation, and allowed participants to explore solutions to the challenges faced by women online.
