Media Development Center at Birzeit University celebrated the conclusion of the project " Media in the face of corruption" , which was carried out by the Centre in partnership with the Anti - Corruption Commission , the Syndicate (PJS)and the Ministry of Justice . And which included 4 courses in West Bank and Gaza , aiming at familiarizing journalists with the knowledge required in the face of corruption, and train them on how to cover and write about issues related to corruption.

The celebration was attended by Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission Mr.Rafiq Natsheh , the president of the PJS Dr. Abdel Nasser Najjar, head of the public relations and media in governmental institutions Mr. Abdul Salam Asia, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Dr. Mehdi Arar, and director of the Media Development Center Mrs. Nibal Thawabteh , and coordinator of the monitoring and evaluation at the MDC Mr. Imad Asfar , with the participation of trainees in both West Bank and the Gaza Strip via Skype .

The gathering wrapped up the project which included a series of training courses in the West Bank and Gaza, which are based on education about basic knowledge on fighting against corruption , the session highlighted main points in this regard by words from all key attendants.

In conclusion, Mrs. Thawabteh and Mr. Natsheh distributed certificates to the trainees, and wished them luck on their role in the fight against corruption and all rejected phenomena .

The Consul General Axel Wernhoff, accompanied by Political consul Johanna Strömquist and Development Cooperation Consul Maria Bendel and executive Assistant Ms. Hoyda , visited Birzeit University today , where they met with the University president Dr. Khalil Hindi and vice president of development and communication , Dr. Ghassan Khatib.

Talks during the meeting were on higher education in Palestine and the achievements of the university , as well as future plans for the development of education on the basis of a professionalism to ensure the quality of education and solve the faced economic crisis in addition to enabling graduates to get jobs through blending training programs with academic years through special agreements with major companies and institutions.

The guests toured at the university , accompanied by Director of the MDC , Mrs. Nibal Thawabteh, they visited the units and sections of the new building of the Centre and was briefed on the training rooms Along with radio and television studios .

The crew of the MDC provided explanation of activities and services provided by the center, the debate took place between center staff and the guest Swedish delegation also about the National Media strategy adopted by the MDC ; and that the center is working currently to set up with more than 40 partners in dealing with the area of legislation and ethics of the profession and the media and curricula of association and protection of the infrastructure of media in Palestine .

A documentary film produced by the MDC during the trainings of the center was displayed during the meeting , this film is one of the 3 films that received awards at the festival "Witness on creativity".

A delegation from the Omani Journalists Association composed of a group of journalists and freelance writers visited Birzeit University , on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 , in order to see the reality of education in the university and learn about academic programs and its history.

The delegation was welcomed by the University president Dr . Khalil Hindi, the vice- president for development and communication Dr . Ghassan Khatib , Mrs. Nibal Thawabteh the director of the MDC ,Chairman of the Department of Information Dr . Bassam Eweda , and Dr. Abdel Nasser al-Najjar ;the president of PJS .

Dr. Hindi briefed the guests about the university, and called for the promotion of academic relations in the future with the academic sector in Oman.

At their part, the association representative journalist Mr. Awad Saeed expressed admiration for the University and the progress it has reached and prosperity under difficult political circumstances prevailing in Palestine , Mr. Saeed confirmed on the need for all Arab countries to support the education sector in Palestine .

The delegation also visited the new headquarters of the MDC and briefed on the modern facilities of the training halls , radio and television studios, and listened to a detailed explanation by the Director of the Center; Mrs. Nibal Thawabteh about the history of the center and what the MDC presented to the media in Palestine as well as the center future plans in the areas of training , research and production and providing advisory services and the preparation of the National Strategy Media .

The visiting journalists expressed their delight on the level the Center has reached , expressing hope in the future for communication and coordination for the exchange of visits and experiences between the center and the crew of journalists and Media institutions in Oman.

 Birzeit University – Thursday, October,10, 2013 : the Ministry of Information visited the MDC on the new headquarters at Birzeit University, represented by Dr. Mahmoud Khalifa; the Deputy Minister and the audio - visual director in the ministry Mr. Mohammed Abu Halawah, and head of the licensing department Mr. Daoud Daoud ,the purpose of the visit was to check and congratulate the transmission of the staff to its new headquarters , "Al Masrouji building" the five - storey building includes radio and television studios as well as training rooms .

The guests met with a number of administrators in the Media Department and the MDC , and toured in the new building , discussing ways of future cooperation in the field of media development and upgrading of the Palestinian media institutions and the Palestinian Journalists.
