Birzeit University and the Media Development Center, are mourning with sincere sorrow our late colleague, the instructor; the Iranian professor : Hussain Shuheidi.
Hussain had a PhD degree in philosophy from Oxford and had taught journalism at the American University in Beirut which he had graduated from at the seventies, he belonged to the elite as a journalist and a trainer who had worked also at the BBC, he was and always will be one of the most loyal friends of the MDC at Birzeit University ;he  had been among us for long months as a brilliant trainer, during which we have learned, as Palestinian media practitioners , about the ethics of  free professional Media.
His training courses have graduated a lot of Palestinian journalists and many had another opportunity to pursue their education under his supervision at the Media Institute in Jordan to receive their Master degrees, his departure caused a tremendous effect upon us and his students.

Hussain came as a mentor..and left as a friend and has granted us love and a lot from his heart.
For his family, friends  and students we pass our shared condolences that must rise to his dignified memory

A German delegation had visited the MDC/Birzeit University yesterday , escorted by media students from Al Najah University in coordination with the PJS.
The guests were welcomed by an opening delivered by Ms. Buthayna Sumeiri;  the manager of the local media development project , they listened to  a briefing  about services, activities and training courses that the center provides  for both journalists and students , through its specialized units in Radio, TV, Print and New media, gender unit and research and policy unit, in addition to the MDC role in training manuals along with various Radio, TV and Print productions in partnership with national and international media institutions. The center displayed the National Media Strategy , that the MDC leads in partnership with forty national institutions.
Media lecturer;  Mr. Saleh Msharqa , added an overview  about AL Hal newspaper that is issued by the MDC publishing reports that training courses result in and being produced on monthly basis, Mr. Msharqa clarified the ultimate purpose of the training courses is preparing students for job market  and giving them a professional platform  that includes also the website of Al- Hal, the visit was wrapped up with a tour in the building , its studios and training halls during which chances of potential collaborations were explored.

Student journalists , academics and legal  professionals demanded development of a draft law on right of access to information; to fit with the goal of it, and supplement the law with Regulation explanatory  that defines terms more  and defines functions of relevant  applying authorities .
The participants confirmed during a workshop organized by the Media Development Center in Gaza City on the importance of law and the urgent need to it , they also linked it to reached resolve of the political division and the law approval by the Legislative Council.
Nibal, the Director of the MDC, opened the workshop via " Skype " and pointed out that this workshop is the second organized by the Center to raise a broader discussion about the drafted law for the beneficial observations and amendments .
At the end of the workshop , the coordinator of Monitoring and Evaluation at the center; Imad Asfar, through Skype assured that the MDC will sum up recommendations and observations and all recorded materials by colleagues in Gaza and the West Bank and then file them  to the Council of Ministers to be taken into account in the development of the draft , consequently, to reach the aspirations of everyone.

Media Development Center has  started yesterday specialized training in the art of feature story writing at its headquarters in Gaza .
senior correspondent and Associated Press working journalist: Mohammed Daraghmeh had participated as  a trainer for 20  journalists from local Palestinian newspapers and Web sites.
The training had extended  for 30 hours over the course of five days , divided into theoretical and practical content ,  the trainees wrote their own feature stories wrapping up their training.
